Call for Application for 2022-2023 Dual-degree Program between NCCU and University of South Carolina

The dual-degree program between NCCU (College of Communication) and University of South Carolina (School of Journalism and Mass Communications) is now open for application.


Eligibility: Master students in the NCCU College of Communication

Application deadline: via email below, by 5 p.m., March 31st, 2022 (Taipei time) for Fall admission

Application documents:

  1. Submitting an Online application at USC’s website

  2. Résumé

  3. Statement of objective, which explains why you are applying.

  4. Official academic transcripts of undergraduate and graduate studies.

  5. Three recommendation letters in English.

  6. English language test scores of TOEFL, IELTS, or the equivalents. This may be waived if the applicant is a native English speaker.

  7. GRE test report. This may be waived if the applicant has taken 12 credits of graduate-level IMICS courses with a min GPA of 3.0 or a B grade.

  8. Portfolio of professional works, if you have any.


In the dual degree program, students are required to earn 36 credits for USC’s Master of Mass Communication (MMC) degree, or 32 credits for USC’s Master of Arts (MA) degree, including 12 credits from NCCU. During the time at USC, students are required to pay tuition fees to both universities, including the in-state tuition at USC. USC requires the MMC students to take a comprehensive exam and complete a practicum/internship; USC requires MA students to take 6 credits of thesis, take a comprehensive exam, and pass oral defense of the thesis.
