On September 9, the first day of the 2024 fall semester, the International Master's Program in International Communication Studies (IMICS) at National Chengchi University (NCCU) hosted an orientation event to welcome its new cohort of first-year students. The orientation aimed to introduce students to the academic and campus life that lies ahead, marking the beginning of their graduate studies.
Several distinguished IMICS faculty members, including Dr. Tammy Jih Hsuan Lin, Dr. Trisha Tsui-Chuan Lin, Dr. Ssu Han Yu, Dr. Christine Cook, Dr. Jesse Chien Chih Lu, Dr. Ting Wu Cho, and Dr. Yoyo Tsung Yo Hou, were present to meet the new students and provide an overview of the courses they will be teaching in the 2024-25 academic year. The diverse range of subjects covered by the professors highlighted the program's interdisciplinary nature, with special attention given to global perspectives in communication.

IMICS Director, Professor Tammy Jih Hsuan Lin, delivered the opening remarks, welcoming the students and offering words of encouragement as they embark on their academic journey. She also emphasized the importance of making the most of the opportunities available through the program, including international collaborations and exchange programs.

Current students in the program also took part in the orientation, offering practical advice on course selection and tips for navigating campus life. They shared personal experiences from their studies at the University of South Carolina (USC) as part of the IMICS-USC dual degree program, which allows students to broaden their global understanding of communication studies by completing part of their degree abroad.
